Important Information & FAQs
for Your Mogote Adventure
At La Paz Fishing and Island Tours, your safety, comfort, and enjoyment are our top priorities. To ensure you have the best possible experience, we’ve compiled some essential information and frequently asked questions about our tours.
Before You Go: Essential Preparations & Safety
To make your day with us as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, please keep the following in mind:
What to Bring:
- Swimsuit & Towel: Essential for all water activities.
- Sun Protection: A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and reef-safe biodegradable sunscreen are crucial. The Baja sun is strong, and we are committed to protecting our marine environment.
- Comfortable Clothing: Light, breathable clothes for the boat ride and beach.
- Layers: Especially for tours between December and March, a hoodie or light jacket is highly recommended, as mornings and evenings on the water can be cool.
- Camera: (Optional) A waterproof camera or phone case is fantastic for capturing those incredible underwater and scenic moments!
Your Safety is Our Priority:
- Every La Paz Fishing and Island Tours vessel is equipped with all required safety equipment, including life jackets for all passengers, first aid kits, and communication devices.
- Physical Conditions: While most activities are accessible, snorkeling and other water activities require a reasonable level of physical fitness. If you have any medical conditions (e.g., severe back, neck, or respiratory problems, or are in advanced pregnancy), we kindly ask you to inform us at the time of booking. Due to federal safety regulations, certain conditions may unfortunately preclude participation in boat tours for your own safety. Please contact us if you have any concerns.
Private Tours:
- Experience: The entire boat is reserved exclusively for you and your group. Enjoy complete privacy and the freedom to tailor the day to your desires.
- Customization: Ideal for those who seek a highly personalized itinerary, allowing you to set specific departure times, request extra time at a favorite snorkeling spot, or focus on particular interests (e.g., birdwatching, specific photo opportunities).
- Benefits: Ultimate privacy, flexibility, and a tailor-made adventure designed solely for your party. Perfect for families, friends, or special occasions where exclusivity is key.
Our Weather Policy: Planning for Perfection
The weather in Baja California Sur is generally beautiful, but ocean conditions can sometimes be unpredictable. Your safety is paramount, and we strictly adhere to all local regulations.
- Monitoring Conditions: We diligently monitor weather forecasts and ocean conditions. We can predict the weather with reasonable certainty using Weather Apps about one week in advance.
- Port Captain Closures: On rare occasions (mostly during winter months due to strong winds), the Port Captain’s office may close the harbor for all marine activities. This is a federal safety measure for your protection.
- Rescheduling & Flexibility:
- If your tour is canceled due to adverse weather or a Port Captain closure, we will contact you immediately to discuss your options.
- You will be offered the opportunity to reschedule your tour for another available day.
- If rescheduling is not possible, we will provide a full refund or a credit for a future booking.
- Travel Tip: If you are planning your trip to La Paz with significant anticipation, we strongly recommend building in 1 or 2 extra days into your itinerary. This flexibility will help us reschedule your tour in case of unforeseen weather conditions if possible , ensuring you don’t miss out on your incredible Baja adventure!
